Reading Challenge: Read 23 Books in 2023

Happy New Year book friends! As we begin a new year, we set goals and make resolutions. One of the most popular resolutions for some is to read more. If you are someone who wants to read more in 2023, I have a challenge for you:

Read 23 books in 2023.

Why 23 books? 23 books read in 2023 just feels natural. Also, it is a realistic goal for most people. It’s not too easy, but it feels attainable. Especially if you set your Goodreads goal every year and get tired of that platform telling you that you are so and so books behind. By the end of the year, you’ll have read 23 books and feel a sense of accomplishment.

Here is how you can join the challenge:

1. Choose your books:

You can choose to read whatever books you want. It can be a mix of fiction and non-fiction, young adult and adult, romance and fantasy, classics and contemporary, etc. Just make sure you are excited to read them.

2. Create a reading list:

Make a list of the 23 books you want to read this year. Make it visible. In your bullet journal or planner, on a post-it note, or in your notes app on your phone. Make sure it is easy to refer to it.

3. Celebrate your achievements:

After you reach your goal of reading 23 books, make sure you celebrate! Treat yourself to a coffee, new book, or anything that comes to mind. Just enjoy yourself.

Remember, the point of this challenge is not to rush through books, but to enjoy the reading process. If you find yourself not enjoying a book, don\’t feel pressured to finish it. Life is too short to read books that don\’t bring you joy.

And if you still need help in figuring out what to read, I’d like to introduce you to the Read, Write, Luxury Reading Challenge. Sometimes you aren’t sure what book you should read next or where to even start. That is where this reading challenge comes in. There are 23 prompts to help you choose your next read. From “read a book by a debut author” to “read a book set in Asia” to “read a BookTok recommendation”. These prompts will help you read 23 books in 2023.
